Description

Kawasaki ER-6n and ER-6f models from 2006 onwards
The evergreen Kawasaki ER-6n and ER-6f models have often been described with phrases like “great handling in every situation, easy to drive, simple to operate”. Both these 2-cylinder Kawasaki 650s were presented towards the end of 2005 and since then have been considered all-round bikes with a high fun factor that are ideally suited for practically any rider. The good value for money, modern styling and lively engine were very popular right from the start, especially the naked ER-6n with ABS; the f model, with its fairing, took a bit longer to convince buyers. But one thing that has helped both ER models to success is that they can be driven very economically. And regardless of whether you drive an ER-6n or an ER-6f: each is a sporty universal motorbike that is a faithful servant to its owner over many years when cared for properly. But despite optimum maintenance and care, there can be times on the streets of this world when a problem crops up and there is no Kawasaki workshop nearby, and for that this book was written.

This handbook includes the following chapters:
– 50,000 km endurance test of the ER-6f from “Motorrad”, Europe’s most popular bike magazine
– workshop: all the right tools for the hobby workshop, including mechanics’ tips
– how to clean and care for your bike
– adjusting the handlebar and levers
– maintenance and mechanics’ tips to help you carry out your own maintenance and servicing
– all approved tyres for the ER-6 models from Avon, Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop, Metzeler, Michelin and Pirelli
– removing/replacing wheels
– caring for, maintaining and repairing the brakes
– lubricating, tightening and changing the chain, mounting new chain, front and rear sprocket
– inspecting and adjusting the front fork and suspension strut, changing the fork oil
– adjusting the steering bearings, fitting new bearings
– removing/replacing suspension strut and swingarm
– charging the battery, inspecting the charging system
– repairing the starter motor
– inspecting the spark plugs and ignition system
– checking the lights, changing bulbs
– changing fuses and relays
– fuel system: cleaning the air filter, finding and repairing faults in the injection system
– removing/fitting the exhaust system
– lubricating system: the correct motor oil for the 2-cylinder bike, changing the oil yourself
– cooling system: checking and changing the coolant
– adjusting and repairing the clutch and gears
– checking and adjusting valve clearance
– detailed troubleshooting guide with instructions and tips for repair
– all necessary tightening torques
– extensive table of technical data, exact setting values and wear limits
– important addresses in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
– large-format switching diagrams as fold-out pages
