Description

Aprilia presented its Leonardo 125 to the world in autumn 1995. The elegant, modern scooter with 12″ wheels and Rotax 4-valve engine was a big hit amongst scooter fans from all over Europe. When the “Leo” went on sale in the spring of 1996, they sold like proverbial hot cakes as, in practice, they impressed with their generous seating capacity, smooth ride and excellent handling. Over the years, the Leo 125 was constantly refined and remained in the sales programme until 2005. From 1997 to 1999 there was also a Leo with a 150 cc engine. In 1999, the company presented the Leo 250, which was somewhat larger and powered by a Yamaha engine. The last model of the design series thus far came in 2005 with the Leo 300, which was based on the 250 model. The 300 was highly perfected and extremely reliable. But despite optimum maintenance and care, there can be times on the streets of this world when a problem crops up and there is no Aprilia workshop nearby, and for that this book was written.

This handbook includes the following chapters:
– 20,000 km endurance test carried out by the trade journal “Roller Spezial”
– an extra chapter on the appropriate tools for use in the hobby workshop
– proper washing, care and winter storage
– mechanics’ tips for carrying out your own maintenance and servicing
– how to remove/fit the fairing
– changing bulbs and fuses
– maintaining, caring for and charging the battery
– changing spark plugs, checking the ignition
– all tyres from Avon, Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop, Heidenau, IRC, Maxxis, Metzeler and Pirelli for the Leonardo scooters
– professionally removing/replacing wheels
– caring for and maintaining the brakes, changing the brake pads and brake fluid
– adjusting the front and rear suspension
– dismantling the front fork, changing the fork oil
– adjusting the steering head bearings, changing bearings
– fuel system: cleaning the air filter, inspecting, cleaning and adjusting the carburettor
– motor oil: the right oil for the Leonardo, changing the oil yourself
– topping up and changing the coolant
– removing/fitting exhaust pipe
– repairing starter motor
– fiting a new Vario drive belt
– checking and adjusting valve clearance
– replacing cylinder and piston
– tightening torques of all screwed connection
– detailed troubleshooting guide with instructions and tips for repair
– extensive table of technical data and exact setting values
– important addresses for Leo drivers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
– large-format switching diagrams as fold-out pages
